A bookmark is a web address (URL), or a link to a web address on the World Wide Web.

The web address may point to a website, or to a sub-article on a website.

On Internet we use bookmarks to remember which websites we have been visiting, and which websites we want to return to in the future.

It is like when you add a bookmark to a specific page in a book.

If there was not an ability to create bookmarks, it would be necessary to enter all URL’s manually in the address bar, or in the search engines – letter by letter – and that would probably cause a huge waste of time.
