Updating your C-suite: Here’s why you need a chief customer officer

The customer always comes first. It’s a saying companies throw around a lot, but they rarely live and breathe it the way they should. It can be easy to forget what’s most important when you’re juggling finances, logistics, investors, and beyond. But there’s a way to keep your customer top of mind no matter what: Make an addition to your C-Suite by empowering a chief customer officer.

It’s a move many of America’s largest companies have made over the last couple of years, driven by the need to differentiate. To boil it down, the chief customer officer (CCO) serves as a top executive with the responsibility of designing, orchestrating, and improving customer experience in a way that impacts all levels of your brand. Progressive companies across a range of industries — from Dunkin Donuts to PNC Bank — have empowered CCOs to build an organization that puts the customer first. At its core, this means dedicating your business to ensuring the voice of the customer is heard and acted upon across the organization.

In an era of heightened customer expectations — in which every customer is also a broadcaster — having a CCO is essential. As with any new role within your company, it’s important to establish responsibilities for your CCO and empower them to hit the ground running.

Here are the top five responsibilities your chief customer officer should take on:
1. Establish a clear vision for customer experience
First and foremost, your CCO will be responsible for establishing a clear vision for customer experience. Striving for great customer experiences isn’t enough anymore. It’s too vague, says little about your company and, counter-intuitively, often leads to muddled, less than great experiences. Your CCO will be able to unpack what great customer experiences actually look like for your business, establishing an authentic company voice and setting clear standards for engaging with customers.

With an understanding of what customer experience looks like for your particular brand, your CCO should set aspirational goals and a roadmap to execute against.
2. Pick an organizational model that can be successful in your business
There are three types of organizational models that businesses typically put in place to support the CCO. In the first model, the CCO directly manages the people, programs, and budget for all customer-focused initiatives. In the second model, the CCO is an evangelist/change agent within the company and makes changes through influence and alliance with teams, particularly when it comes to budget and program authority. The third model is a hybrid of the first two, with the CCO being part of a function (typically marketing or operations) but working across a wider range of teams.

Any of the above models can be successful, depending on how they are implemented. The key is for the CCO to show enterprise results in the areas of loyalty, satisfaction, and profitability.
3. Give customers a voice in all company initiatives
For employees that don’t engage with customers on a regular basis, it can be difficult to grasp how customer feedback plays a role in everything from daily tasks to large projects. But the truth is, customer experience should be top of mind for all departments — from finance and billing to marketing and sales. That’s where your chief customer officer comes in.

CCOs can come from different walks of life — there is no specific career path that CCOs need to have followed to be successful. Many come from an operational background, often earlier in their careers, working in customer-facing roles in sales, support, or regional operational management roles. Others come from marketing and/or insights roles, helping companies qualify and quantify the voice of the customer.

Whoever takes on the role of chief customer officer should be prepared to bring customer feedback to the table, prioritizing initiatives to improve the customer experience, and clearly explaining how customer insights relate to each individual department. Your CCO should aggregate insights from multiple sources — social platforms, call centers, forums — to create a comprehensive overview of customer feedback and how each department impacts those statistics.

Once each department has a clear understanding of its role in customer experience, your CCO should work with each department on initiatives and act as a customer representative in all matters. Ultimately, the CCO is responsible for driving a new way of thinking from the C-suite to the frontline and back-office employees, always giving the customer a seat at the table for every new initiative.
4. Be proactive
It is the responsibility of the chief customer officer to bring a proactive approach to customer experience management. CCOs need to help their teams get in front of issues by instating simple guidelines for engaging with customers. With a CCO in your arsenal and a broader customer experience management team to back them up, your team will be able to proactively communicate with customers about new products, policies, and processes.

Service recovery should be less of a priority as customer insights are used to create and innovate better solutions before they cause issues. In other words, your CCO will be able to mitigate potential issues before they arise by incorporating customer feedback at all levels of business.
5. Share results with the entire company
Most importantly, the chief customer officer is responsible for educating their peers and the rest of the organization on the value of being a customer-centric company. As your CCO and customer engagement management team bring their customer experience roadmap to life, they’ll share successes, failures, and everything in between. It’s important that the entire company have a clear understanding of what the CCO hopes to accomplish and that updates on progress are given on a regular basis. Seeing is believing, which is why the CCO will need to share insights and achievements as often as possible.

With such an increased focus on customer experience, the CCO role will likely become more and more common. In the meantime, early adopters — those who truly understand the importance and power of the customer — will lead the charge in shaping this new C-suite role and will, no doubt, have a leg up on the competition.

With calls for Apple's upcoming iPhone models to be "spectacular", it appears that pundits and those who have been quick to proclaim that we've reached 'peak iPhone' have nothing to worry about. While we'll know what type of wild new features the iPhone 7 will incorporate in just about three months, a new report from reputed analyst Ming-Chi Kuo provides us with some interesting insight as to what Apple has planned for 2017 when it releases what will presumably be called the iPhone 7s. DON'T MISS: Must Watch: Man creates primitive bow and arrow with his hands According to a research note Kuo provided to investors, and subsequently obtained by AppleInsider, Apple is busy working on an iPhone model with curved pieces of glass and an AMOLED display. What's more, the report relays that Apple also has plans to shake up its iPhone lineup with a model sporting a 5.8-inch display. Notably, this isn't the first time we've seen reports pointing to Apple shifting away from the LCD display technology that has served the iPhone so well over the past 8 and a half years. Earlier in the month, a report from Nikkei claimed that Apple was in talks with supply partners about ramping up OLED display production ahead of what was initially a 2018 timetable. As for the iPhone 7s, Kuo, who has a rather impressive track record with respect to Apple rumors, said that the design will incorporate glass on the front and back of the device, similar in style to the design of the iPhone 4 and 4s. Only difference is, the iPhone 7s will incorporate curved glass panels on both the front and back and metal on the sides. What's more, Kuo believes that the bezels on the iPhone 7s will be smaller than they are on Apple's current iPhone lineup. In addition to a new form factor and an AMOLED display, Kuo also writes that Apple is exploring other ways to differentiate the device. AI reports:
The analyst believes Apple is looking to implement exotic materials to further differentiate iPhone from a sea of competitors. Kuo expects Apple to choose glass for its new case design as the material is easy to mold and boasts properties that facilitate thin-and-light form factor designs... On the inside, Apple's next-generation iPhone is expected to include wireless charging and new biometric recognition technology like face and iris scanning, presumably accomplished through a front-facing camera. Apple owns a number of patents covering secure facial recognition technology, including IP that relies on 3D rendering for increased levels of accuracy. Perhaps not coincidentally, the company recently acquired facial recognition specialist Emotient and real-time 3D rendering firm Faceshift.
That said, it remains to be seen if Apple will introduce wireless charging on the iPhone 7 - as has been rumored - or if it will wait until 2017 to roll out the feature. Though Apple has historically waited for numbered iPhone upgrades to introduce differentiated form factors and new technologies, somewhat stagnant iPhone 6s sales may have prompted Apple to try and pump up sales during the iPhone's upcoming 'S' refresh cycle. As for how the rumored 5.8-inch iPhone will factor into Apple's iPhone lineup, well, that remains to be seen. It may be released as yet another iPhone option or Apple could just as easily use it to replace the current 5.5-inch iPhone model. As Nikkei astutely noted not too long ago, Apple may be pulling out all the stops on the iPhone 7s in an effort to “offset a predicted stall in iPhone sales..."

If you've noticed that your mobile Netflix viewing experience has been less than stellar, it turns out that your carrier might not be the culprit. Indeed, Netflix a few days ago admitted that it has been throttling videos for AT&T and Verizon customers. As Netflix recently conceded, the company has been lowering the video quality of streamed videos on the aforementioned carriers in an effort to keep users from going over their monthly data allotment. As Netflix puts it, the throttling is to "protect consumers from exceeding mobile data caps." Of course, the other benefit is that it keeps subscribers immersed within the Netflix universe for longer periods of time. DON'T MISS: Get $149 worth of photo editing tools free from Google right now Specifically, Netflix relayed that it limits streams to about 600kbps on cellular networks. And while this undoubtedly keeps data usage lower, not everyone is willing to put up with a step down in video quality. That being the case, the streaming video giant reportedly has plans to roll out a new mobile app update in May that will give AT&T and Verizon customers more flexibility with respect to the quality of their video streams. PhoneArena reports:
The feature will be offered in May and will allow those with low data caps to watch Netflix using a lower quality stream that will allow them to save their precious data. Those receiving a large amount of data each month will be able to watch movies and television shows with a higher quality feed. And those who won't watch streaming video unless they have a Wi-Fi connection will also be able to choose a high-quality stream.
It's a common sense solution, and it's curious why this wasn't implemented from day one.

Toppinsats direkt i årsdebuten av Timbal

Robert Berghs läckra sto Timbal stod för en grymt fin insats när hon vann direkt i årsdebuten och klockades till 1.12,8 full väg på Gävletravet.

Påskägget för de fyraåriga stona var eftermiddagens begivenhet på Gävletravet under påskaftonen. Robert Bergh visade upp sin segermaskin Timbal som direkt i årets första start levererade en femstjärnig insats och inkasserade förstaprisets 150 000 kronor.

Loppet öppnades i våldsamt tempo. Pandora Face kom igenom perfekt från bakspår och kunde gå till ledningen. Uret visade på 08,8 första halvvarvet och då kröp Timbal ned i rygg på ledaren efter att ha inlett i tredjespår.

När ett varv kvarstod valde Robert Bergh att vrida ut i dödens och Timbal började pressa på ledaren direkt. Med 600 meter kvar satt hon i ledningen. In Toto Sund, som gått en snabb avslutning, testade att utmana över upploppet men Timbal försvarade sig helhjärtat.

Segern togs på fina 1.12,8a över 2140 meter och det här var Timbals femte raka. Totalt har stoet 16 segrar på 22 starter och 2,2 miljoner kronor intravat i karriären. Dagens framträdande skvallrade dock om att det finns mycket pengar att tjäna framöver för From Above-dottern.

Daniel Redéns högintressanta USA-import Wild Honey skulle också varit med i loppet, men fick strykas på morgonen efter att ha dragit på sig feber.

Love them or hate them, Live Tiles are an integral part of Windows these days, and they aren’t going anywhere any time soon. In fact, it looks as though they’re about to get some welcome improvements in the not-too-distant future.
As spotted by MSPoweruser, Microsoft will hold a session at next week’s Build Developer Conference entitled “What’s New for Tiles and Toast Notifications” that, as its name suggests, will get into fixes and additions coming to Windows’ notifications system.
The session’s description hints at improvements that will provide the adaptive toasts features added to Windows 10 with “greatly increased flexibility.” a powerful API that enables a new class of apps to plug into the Notification pipeline and provide innovative experiences for users.”Lastly, Microsoft said it’ll two highly-requested surprises” coming to Live Tiles, though it isn’t saying what those new goodies are.

Månprinsen A.M. fortsätter att vinna i Norge. Moe Odins Äreslopp på Klosterskogen grejades på riktigt rejält sätt.

Det svenska kallblodsmajestätet Månprinsen A.M. fortsätter att tävla med framgång på norskt underlag. Vid lördagens fina tävlingar på Klosterskogen kom hästens tredje raka fullträff.

Gunnar Melander körde i vanlig ordning ”Prinsen” som tog hem ett förstapris på 200 000 norska kronor när han bärgade guldet i Moe Odins Äreslopp mot väl valda delar av den norska eliten.

Månprinsen A.M. tog en säker start, men kunde tidigt avanceras framåt och nådde dödens då klockorna visade på 20,5 första 500. Efter ett varv hade svensken övertagit ledningen.

En tuff upploppsfajt väntade dock. Men Månprinsen vägrade släppa någon förbi sig. Moe Svarten pressade på genom sista svängen, men orkade inte utmana till slut. Det provade i stället Fjord Jerven att göra på open stretch – men utan chans att lura ledaren.

Månprinsen A.M. höll säkert undan hela vägen hem och segertiden noterades till 1.23,1a över 2100 meter. Fjord Jerven slutade tvåa på samma tid, medan Moe Svarten var trea på 1.23,4.

Friday night on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the host paid tribute to legendary comedian Garry Shandling, who died unexpectedly on Thursday. Shandling was revered in the comedy world, a fact that becomes apparent watching Fallon recount some of Shandling’s greatest bits like he’s hosting The Chris Farley Show. (He eventually segued into a performance of the theme from It’s Garry Shandling’s Show, AKA “the greatest TV theme song of all time.”) Though Shandling appeared on The Tonight Show while it was hosted by Johnny Carson, Jay Leno, and Conan O’Brien, he was never on Fallon’s version of the show. So the host doesn’t share personal stories like Conan O’Brien’s moving account of Shandling helping him after losing The Tonight Show. But he did speak to Shandling’s legacy:

He’s one of the greatest standup comedians ever. I think if you ever—if you’re thinking about getting into standup comedy or if you just like watching it, you can’t go through without seeing Garry Shandling, and studying this guy.

Fallon then gave the audience the chance to do just that, playing a clip of Shandling’s first appearance on The Tonight Show back in the Johnny Carson days. Better yet, the staff of Fallon’s Tonight Show put together a video gallery of some of Shandling’s best appearances. Here’s Shandling in his element, joking about politics, the Carson/Rivers feud, and, of course, his hair.

Quick Fix var tillbaka på nordisk mark efter en lyckosam sejour i Frankrike – och tog en säker seger i Kloster-skogen Grand Prix.

Lutfi Kolgjini-tränade Quick Fix har haft fina framgångar i Frankrike under vintern och bland annat vunnit tre lopp samt travat in över 1,5 miljon kronor.

På påskaftonen var sjuåringen tillbaka på nordisk mark och kunde tillsammans med Adrian Kolgjini i vagnen, ta en vattentät seger i Klosterskogen Grand Prix. En vinst som var doterad till 300 000 norska kronor.

Quick Fix hade begåvats med innerspåret bakom bilen och det utnyttjade den kvicka valacken givetvis genom att ta hand om ledningen direkt. Den positionen skulle From Above-sonen aldrig lämna ifrån sig.

Genom sista sväng ryckte Quick Fix undan och kunde trava upploppet ned i ohotad stil till seger på 1.13,8a över 2100 meter på Klosterskogens 800-metersoval.

Gigant Slugger gick en fin avslutning till andrapriset medan Winmecredit nöp åt sig tredjeplatsen. Ed You, som var andrahandsspelad, galopperade redan innan bilen lämnade fältet.

Snart är VR i var mans hand och då kommer givetvis det mesta som finns i andra mediaformat även att dyka upp i den virtuella verkligheten, det finns som bekant redan en marknad för VR-porr som vi har skrivit om tidigare.

I det här klippet får ni se när en snubbe ska visa VR-striptease för några av sina vänner för första gången men det kanske inte var riktigt så kompisarna hade hoppats få se detta för första gången i sitt liv.

Unfortunately, that vision has been delayed — twice — but as of yesterday, the Surface Hub is now ready for the real world. The company has announced that it is now shipping the Windows 10-powered displays to businesses. They come in two sizes, 55 and 84 inches, the larger of which is 4K. They cost $8,999 and $21,999, respectively.

Big bucks = Big productivity?

Of course, at those prices, these are far more than just displays. They support 100 points of touch input, as well as digital pens. There's a Core i5/i7 computer inside with a 128GB SSD and 8GB of RAM. The larger one even has discrete Nvidia Quadro graphics. There's also Bluetooth and NFC, as well as a dual webcam with noise-cancelling microphones is also built-in to the bezel for teleconferences.

With those features, Microsoft hopes the displays can function as the "hub" of business conferences and meetings. It's a screen for PowerPoint presentations. It's a whiteboard for note-taking and brainstorming. It's a teleconferencing setup. In addition to traditional meeting rooms, Microsoft says companies have already found a home for the Surface Hub not just in conference rooms, but also "factory floors, lecture halls, hospitals, and executive offices and boardrooms." Powerful, flexible screens like this might some day replace the "Smart TVs" of today, but only when the price comes down to something in the $2,000 range.

Correction: An earlier version of this story indicated both models have 4K screens. Only the 84-inch one does, the 55-inch model has a 1080p screen.

Hade en grymt bra dag igår, tokigt fint väder, några av de bästa stigar jag någonsin kört och grym guidning. Vi började som en större grupp men sedan delade vi upp och tillsammans med två andra erfarna cyklister blev det lite högre tempo. Jävligt kul, låg och pressade varandra lite lagom. Idag mötte jag upp en större grupp med hyfsat erfarna cyklister, några bättre än andra men alla var lokala cyklister. Fick möjligheten att köra några riktiga godbitar. Återigen inget som passar en cross countrycykel men tror nog jag körde den roligaste stigen jag någonsin kört… fram till ett plötsligt slut. Det blev en liten vurpa, eller en rätt brutal krock. Rätt fånigt faktiskt då jag innan körde dropp, en del hopp, stenkistor och en hel del efter svenska mått mätt brutala stigar. Men det som fick mig att gå omkull var en ränna till viss del gjord av vatten men sannolikt som ett resultat av att de kört med ”motordrivna endurocyklar”. Plötsligt började det ta i mot kanten av spåret och det blev en hyfsat klassisk omkullkörning, det tråkiga var att någon hade ställt ett träd precis där min axel skulle passera och jag klippte stammen 31 km/h enligt min Garmin. Pang sa det och ont gjorde det, riktigt ont!

Det var under början av 2016 som en polispatrull bestämde sig för att omhänderta en berusad person i centrala Hudiksvall. Den som skulle omhändertas, en man i 30-årsåldern, gjorde enligt åtalet våldsamt motstånd. Resultatet blev en sprucken läpp för en polisman, vilken den åtalade med all kraft ska ha försökt slingra sig från. Spott, vålds- och dödshot ska även ha riktats åt de två poliserna i bilen på vägen till polisstationen. Den åtalade har i förhör varken förnekat eller erkänt handlandet, med hänvisning till minnesluckor.
